The variant planning sheet
Launch a range from one visual system.
By Raunak Singh Bhogal. Published 18 September 2026, updated 26 September 2026.
The short version
Launch a range from one visual system. Lock the top half once. Fill the bottom half per variant.
Lock the set
One camera angle, one light, one surface. Decide them once. Every variant after that drops into the same world.
This is the decision that saves the most money.
One colour each
Give every flavour its own ground colour and keep everything else fixed. The colour does the talking before anyone reads the label.
We did this for a cocktail mixer range: one colour per flavour.
One layout
Pack position, headline position and logo position never move. Only the pack, the colour and one word change.
If a designer has to think, it is not a system yet.
One motion template
The same ten-second move for every flavour: the world takes the colour, the pack lands, the name arrives.
Build it once. Swap the pack and the colour.
Write the rules down
One page: the colours as hex codes, the type, the layout, the motion. Now anyone can make variant six.
A system lives on paper, not in one person's head.
Make them together
Produce all variants in one batch. Same session, same files, same review. Five separate jobs cost five times the meetings.
One feedback list for the whole range.
Then add flavour six
A new variant becomes a one-day job: new pack, new colour, export. No brief, no shoot, no waiting.
That is what a launch should cost you the second time.
